Boosting Ticket Sales & Event Visibility Through One Entry, Multiple Channels
Client Overview
Worlds Marathons, a Swedish startup, aspired to connect global athletes through endurance sports events like marathons. When faced with the challenge of dwindling ticket sales due to pandemic restrictions on group events, they turned to Brankka for expertise. We played an important role in conceptualising and designing Race Office Next, a back-office platform for endurance sports event organisation and ticket sales.
Challenges
The challenge we faced during that time was the stringent pandemic measures, making travel difficult and organising public, group events nearly impossible. These factors resulted in a significant decline in event organisation, bookings, and management, along with a substantial drop in ticket sales.
Our Involvement
Our goal was to develop a user-centric, web-based back-office platform for event organisation and pre-sale of tickets. This initiative aimed to save time, allowing us to swiftly enter the market once quarantine measures were lifted.
UX Strategy
We crafted a UX strategy with the primary goal of enhancing ticket sales and resolving ongoing refund issues. Our approach included user interviews, A/B tests, usability tests, accessibility reviews, use cases, and technical documentation. Through these methodologies, we explored the needs, challenges, and expectations of a diverse array of users.
User Interviews
We conducted more than 10 user interviews with current platform users to delve into their daily experiences with Race Office and identify any frustrations they encountered. Thoughtfully selecting a diverse group of candidates for these interviews allowed us to gain valuable insights. Findings from these interviews played a crucial role in refining our personas to accurately reflect the needs and pain points of real users.
Design & Prototyping
The culmination of our research efforts resulted in wireframes, which were then transformed into prototypes for effective communication with stakeholders. Upon receiving approval for the initial prototype, we transitioned to the detailed UI design phase for various pages, supporting the development and documentation of the Race Office design system. Brankka played a crucial role, acting as a mentor to mid-level designers overseeing this process.
Usability testing
After the production phase, our focus shifted to testing, with Brankka playing a role in selecting candidates from our client base and establishing processes for usability testing. This included writing testing scripts, formulating questions, and moderating testing sessions. We conducted usability tests with Race Office, engaging 8 candidates, and successfully completed five tests, in line with our initial plan. The task assigned to organisers was to create a new event through Race Office, allowing us to evaluate the platform's usability.
Results overview
Task Completion Rate 100%
Significance:All test users successfully completed their tasks, indicating the platform’s effectiveness in guiding users through the process.
Time on Task 4 minutes
Improvement: Compared to the previous interface, there was a remarkable improvement of 16 minutes, representing a five times faster task completion.
User Error Rate 0%
Significance: A user error rate of 0% underscores the flawless execution of tasks without errors, indicating the platform’s intuitive design and user-friendly interface.
