Client Overview

BetterSea is a maritime decarbonisation software company that offers a one-stop-shop to decarbonise your assets. They offer a four-step approach to decarbonise which includes: status analysis, action plan, execution and monetization. BetterSea helps you understand your current emissions and then helps you create a plan to reduce them.

Challenges

While crafting the design system and user interface for BetterSea's platform, a key challenge emerged: bridging the gap between our design expertise and the intricacies of maritime decarbonisation and regulations. To ensure the platform catered effectively to BetterSea's audience, we delved deeply into the world of ecology, deciphering complex environmental factors and translating them into clear, actionable insights within the software. This focus on domain knowledge enrichment ultimately led to a more user-friendly and impactful solution.

Our Involvement

In our role with Better Sea Company, we spearheaded the design initiative using Figma. Leveraging its powerful collaborative features, we carefully crafted UI designs and developed a comprehensive design system. Brankka’s involvement ensured seamless communication and streamlined workflow, resulting in impactful design solutions that elevated Better Sea's digital presence.

UI Components & Design system

To empower BetterSea's platform and ensure efficient development, our team established a robust design system. This involved crafting a sleek set of UI components that are not only intuitive and user-friendly, but also adhere to accessibility best practices. We implemented a collaborative design process, fostering clear communication between designers and developers. This streamlined approach resulted in a design system that empowers maritime professionals within the Maritime Emission Network and Fuel EU projects to seamlessly navigate and leverage emission data for informed decision-making.

Our Design Work with BetterSea

Leveraging Figma, we created multiple prototypes tailored to four distinct user personas. In this project, prototyping played an important role in bringing our designs to life. By creating interactive designs, we were able to refine user flows. This approach empowered us to iterate rapidly and deliver solutions that surpassed expectations, driving efficiency and satisfaction across BetterSea's digital platforms. We're proud to be a part of BetterSea's mission and look forward to extending our expertise to the Maritime Emission Network and Fuel EU platforms, contributing to a more sustainable maritime future.
